How To Become A Magician Newspaper

This brief addressed designing for the printed page from a text within the public domain. The publication I selected was “How to Become a Magician” published in 1882 by Frank Tousey.

The design solution 

Every element of the design should compete for the audience’s attention, while the type is structured by a grid with clear collumns - reminiscent of design in the 1800s. The modern touch to the design is present within the careful space. I have used typography as a tool of illustration, bringing energy and liveliness to each page.
