Czech Contemporary Fiction Book Cover Series

The brief was to create a book cover series for a collection of Czech contemporary fiction books.  

(This project is part of my Final Major Project for my MA in Graphic Design and Typography.)

The design solution 

It was important that I established a style that would be appropriate for each narrative. I found that a convention of Czech literature is that there is usually a contradictory argument in each story. I located this theme in each book and presented this contrast in the cover with appropriate collaged imagery. I took inspiration from Czech and Russian posters by using black and white photographs combined with the use of shape and space.
