Crime Fiction Book Cover Series

The brief was to create a book cover series for a collection of Crime Fiction novels.

(This project is part of my Final Major Project for my MA in Graphic Design and Typography.)

The design solution 

It was important that I established a style that would be appropriate for each narrative. I chose to use collage to construct the villain in each novel. These characters were inspired directly from lines in the book, such as descriptions of clothing items and facial features. I chose to use hand lettering in these designs to allow the type to respond to the shape of each character.
